Melissa Donner

Instructional Coach for English, Urban Teaching Apprenticeship Program

Before joining UTAP, Melissa Donner, M.Ed., worked as an 8th-11th grade English teacher for eight years, and an Instructional Coach for middle and high school English teachers in Philadelphia through the Institute for Student Achievement (ISA). Her work as a teacher and coach is grounded in social justice and equity. Melissa aims to use practices that develop student inquiry and agency, as well as curriculum that explores a diverse collection of voices and social issues. Her research interests center around student inquiry and collaboration, reading interventions, and practice-based teacher education.
