Taryn Ortlip

Instructional Coach for Math, Urban Teaching Apprenticeship Program

Taryn Ortlip taught 7th-12th grade math for seven years in Philadelphia public and charter schools before transitioning into full-time coaching. Taryn’s coaching work with veteran teachers led her to believe in the importance of math-specific coaching for novice teachers, which, in turn, led her to the Urban Teaching Apprenticeship program. In her current role, Taryn loves figuring out how to bridge what's happening in the university with what's happening in the field. She says, “It's such a joy to model an instructional routine in our Methods class, have the apprentices decompose it, and then see them enact the practice with their students in real-time.”
